Prohibited baggage
1. What items are forbidden to carry in checked baggage?
- Ammunition;
- Explosive capsule;
- Detonators and fuses (detonating cords);
- Mines, grenades and other explosive military devices;
- Fireworks, flares and other pyrotechnics;
- Smoke generating canisters or cartridges;
- Dynamite, gunpowder and any other explosives and explosive devices.
It is also prohibited to carry:
- Radioactive and strongly magnetised materials;
- Poisonous and infectious substances;
- Items the carriage of which is banned by the government, regulations or laws issued by the countries or states of departure / destination;
- Objects that because of their size and / or weight cannot be loaded on a passenger aircraft;
- Perishable foods, which may damage other persons’ luggage.
2. What items are forbidden to carry in hand luggage?
A list of items forbidden to carry in the passenger cabin is provided below.
Firearms, non-firing weapons – any objects that may shoot or cause injuries:
Firearms (pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, etc.);
- Firearms replicas and imitation;
- Parts of firearms (except sighting devices and sights);
- Air pistols and air rifles;
- Signal pistols;
- Starting gun;
- Toy guns of all types;
- Pneumatic ball-cartridge loaded firearms;
- Industrial bolt and nail guns;
- Crossbows;
- Irons;
- Harpoon guns;
- Humane animal extermination devices;
- Intoxicating or percussive devices (e.g. cattle prods, electric ballast devices)
- Lighters shaped like a firearm;
Pointed and edged weapons and sharp objects - sharp and bladed objects that may cause injures:
- Axes and hatchets,
- Arrows and darts,
- Crampons;
- Harpoons and spears;
- Ice axes and ice picks;
- Ice skates;
- Lockable or flick knives with blades of any length;
- Knives, including ceremonial knives, with blades of more than 6 cm, made of metal or any other material strong enough to be used as a potential weapon;
- Meat cleavers;
- Machetes;
- Open razors and blades (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed);
- Sabres, swords and sticks with a hidden blade;
- Scalpels;
- Scissors with a blade of more than 6 cm;
- Ski and walking sticks;
- Propellants stars;
- Craft tools that can be used as a pointed or edged weapon (e.g.,
- drills and drill bits, box cutters, saws of all types, screwdrivers, crowbars,
- hammers, pliers, wrenches, soldering irons).
Blunt instruments - any blunt instrument that may be used to cause injuries:
- Baseball and softball bats;
- Clubs or batons - rigid or flexible (e.g., truncheons, bludgeons, sticks and telescopic sticks);
- Cricket bats;
- Golf clubs;
- Hockey sticks;
- Lacrosse sticks;
- Kayak and canoe paddles;
- Skateboards;
- Billiard, snooker and pool sticks;
- Fishing rods;
- Martial arts equipment (e.g., knuckle-dusters, bludgeons, blackjacks, nunchaku, kubatons (fighting sticks) kubasaunts).
Explosives and flammable substances - any explosive or highly combustible substances which pose a threat to the health of passengers or crew or the security and safety of the aircraft or property:
- Ammunition;
- Explosive capsule;
- Detonators and fuses (detonating cords);
- Explosives and explosive devices;
- Replicas or imitation of explosive substances or devices;
- Mines and other explosive military devices;
- Grenades of all types;
- Gas and gas containers (e.g. butane, propane, oxygen) in large quantities;
- Fireworks in any form, flares and other pyrotechnics (including confetti cannons, toy gun caps);
- Safety matches;
- Smoke generating canisters or cartridges;
- Flammable liquid (e.g. petrol, alcohol, fuel torches);
- Aerosol spray paint;
- Turpentine and paint thinners;
- Alcoholic beverages stronger than 70% by volume.
Chemical and toxic substances - any chemical or toxic substances which pose a threat to the health of passengers or crew or the security and safety of the aircraft or property:
- Acids and alkalis (e.g. batteries filled with liquid electrolyte);
- Corrosive or bleaching substances (e.g. mercury, chlorine);
- Neutralizing or paralyzing gas injection (e.g. pepper, tear);
- Radioactive substances (e.g. medical or commercial isotopes);
- Poisons;
- Infectious or biohazardous substances (e.g. infected blood, bacteria and viruses);
- Spontaneously combustible material;
- Fire extinguishers.
